Wild Weather on Wednesday!

Did you catch the alliteration in the title? And, can you tell I am a reading teacher?

Well, looks the weather in my area cannot make up its mind! Last week, I was posting about snow, and now we have tornado watches and warnings this evening! That's variety --- especially for a weather lover like me! I suppose a few thunderstorms aren't a high price to pay for these gorgeous spring days we've been having, though.

What's weird: this house we currently rent has been previously *almost* destroyed by a tornado (this was a few years back so we weren't living here yet). All the damage was fixed, and the house was restored back to its original cuteness. We love it here, but the downed trees on the mountainside behind the house are a quick reminder that something like that could totally happen again. But, let's hope not!

Okay, just wanted to stop by and post :)

Now let's go take cover and grade 3,000 papers!

Tackle it 2!

Well, it's another busy Tuesday! I took a personal day off yesterday, so today was like my Monday! (booooo!) Needless to say, I didn't get my normal Tuesday stuff accomplished! I just wasn't as productive as usual because it simply wasn't the second day of the work week for me. Gotta get back in the swing of things. :)

However, I did get a few things tackled on this beautiful and spring-like Tuesday evening:
  • Attended an after school meeting until 5. Learned a lot.
  • Still made it down to Knoxville to buy some household shower gifts for Saturday.
  • Hit up the Target and Ross for some cute clothes....and an ICEE! :)
  • Made it back home by 9:00 to put on the pj's and post! Whew!
I am on the search for some comfy, but adorable shoes... Maybe I will tackle that next Tuesday! :)

Sooooooo, what did YOU tackle today??

Thanks for reading... Feel free to comment! <3

What I learned this weekend...

I'm not sure why I write most of my posts in list form, but here goes:

1. Never, ever, ever use ever again. I have never ever had such horrible experiences with a company - ever. I hate to sound mean and negative, but man, they are awful. I'm sure their employees are cool people, but their services stink.

2. I've learned that I must update my GPS regularly because I got lost about 4 times in downtown Nashville.

3. While I was driving around aimlessly, I discovered that I am totally and hopelessly dependent on my husband for everything, especially driving. It's sad.

4. I learned that Jim n Nick's cheese biscuits are just as awesome in Nashville as they are in Birmingham.

5. I learned that Walmart's Danskin brand track suit things are the most comfortable little outfits on this planet!  I searched everywhere before we left for a cute sweatsuit type-thing (because I needed to be comfy while I sat in the gym all day Sunday with the cheerios).  Well, after shopping at the fancy sports store for an Under Armour or Nike one, I gave up, went to Walmart and found one even cuter. I felt like I had my pj's on... did I mention that the Danskin stuff is cheap, too? Yay! I'm going to buy like 10 more.

6. I learned, as if I didn't know already, how horrible I am at bowling. I also learned that a few of my little cheerios had never even been bowling, and I am so glad they loved it.

7. I learned that you can't please everyone, and you definitely can't please everyone in a group of 35.

8. I learned that I didn't really like being in charge of a group of 35; the 10 girls I can handle, but not the 25 parents/family members. LOL But, I am honestly glad they all came to support the girls.

9. I've learned that there's no place like home!

10. I've learned that I love being a teacher because when I am this mentally and physically exhausted, I can always just get a sub.

Woo hoo! :)

What I'm excited about... 3!

I always do this every Saturday! So, here it goes.

1. Headed to Nashville in a few hours. I'm going to miss my hubby, but I know we're all going to have fun.

2. The most exciting thing about Nashville? JIM n NICK'S! My favorite restaurant!
Those cheese biscuits should be illegal. YUM.

3. My mother and grandmother are going with me so we get to spend quality time together.

4. My husband got his US Mail magnets (for his Jeep) yesterday. They are huge and currently hanging on the fridge. It's hilarious. :)

5. I am alive and blessed beyond belief!

It's the weekend! Come on - GET EXCITED!

High Five for Friday!

TGIF, for real! :)

Once again, I am linking up with Lauren at From My Grey Desk for this Friday's post. It's a ton of fun!

1. It was a sunny, spring-like seventy degrees yesterday and this morning, but I just looked out and saw snow flurries. I knew it was supposed to cool down this evening, but snow? Really? I'm not kidding when I say I love East Tennessee weather. Someone once said, "If you don't like the weather here in Tennessee, then wait a minute and it'll change." lol! Their statement was spot on. :)

2. This week was a three-day work week for me! Yet, somehow I am still just as exhausted as I would have been if I would've worked all 5 days. Maybe it's because of all the extra planning and stressing I've been doing lately... which leads me to my next post.

3. ...........I've spent all week preparing for our cheerleading trip to Vandy! I am excited but a little nervous too! I am so proud of my little cheerios, and I know they're gonna rock Sunday.

4. I know I mentioned the Joyce Meyer devotional last Friday, but it's awesome to say the least. I feel like I have grown spiritually since starting it. It has been a blessing to me this week so it had to make it onto the list.

5. Since I was off last Friday through Tuesday of this week I have been able to be a total housewife. I loved it! I cooked, cleaned, organized, designed, crafted, and caught up on some reading - not to mention the long bubble baths, but that may be TMI. I must add that I could not be an everyday stay-at-home wife though; I'd get too bored after awhile. By Wednesday, I was ready to get back to the kiddos at school. :)

Why Did I Get Married?

If you're married, then this is a great question to ask yourself sometime. Puts things into perspective for ya real quick. Anyways... here's why I posted:

I don't know what's gotten into me. I have started watching movies! I've never been a movie person and could honestly go months on end without watching one. I guess I am more of a reader. Actually, I can't even believe I am writing a post about movies, but these are life changers. Welllllll, I wouldn't go that far. lol

This new movie hobby began when I watched Why Did I Get Married? by Tyler Perry. I loved it so much that we had to run out and buy the sequel, Why Did I Get Married, Too? Oh man! Both are such sweet and meaningful little movies. Tyler Perry can spin a yarn that tugs on the heartstrings.

Then tonight Aaron and I watched Beyonce's movie Obsessed on the Lifetime channel. I was on the edge of the couch the whole time. I'm still creeping myself out just thinking about it!

Next on my list is Joyful Noise with Dolly Parton. Isn't she such an icon? lol

Well, I am off to vegetate and prepare myself for the hectic weekend ahead of me!

Go find these movies! :)

Tackle It Tuesday!

Did you know....Tuesday is the most productive day of the week?
I read this in an article once!

As a teacher, I can agree with this statement wholeheartedly. On Tuesdays, the kids seem less groggy, and it's my day to keep study hall so I get tons of grading and paperwork done, too.

That's why I am hereby declaring that all of my Tuesday posts from this day forward will be known as
"Tackle it Tuesday" :)
I just love "tackling" my to-do lists and what not. It just feels good so I plan on sharing before/after pics of the completed Tuesday tasks and all that good stuff.

However, we had another snow day today so while I'm not doing the teacher thing today, I am still planning, grading, and doing laundry. But the one thing I HAVE to tackle today?

A ten minute long cheerleading dance. Go ahead and laugh! My little cheerio squad has been invited to Nashville this weekend to perform a halftime routine and I received the youtube video of the dance they'll be learning. Sooo, I have to get up off the couch today to learn it and teach it to them tomorrow.

There will be NO before/after pics for this post due to the embarrassing nature of the content. LOL

I just wanted to let you know what I was tackling this Tuesday. Let's go dance!!  :P

Kinda Sorta DIY

Well, being snowed in has allowed me to do a little crafting, which is something I haven't done probably since the wedding.

By the way, here's what I woke up to:
Our snow-covered holly! :)

Okay, back to craftin'. My BFF bought me this gigantor photo collage for Christmas. I thought it was totally neat, but I didn't know how I felt about sticking a million different little pics in there, like maybe it would be a little dizzying?

(with all the strange, fake pictures of hikers, goldern retrievers, and hot-air balloons):

I used pieces from a "collection" of scrapbook paper (by Martha Stewart) to fill in the different-sized squares. All of the pages are within the same color/pattern schemes, and it totally matches my bedroom. I am going to hang it horizontally.
This task was kinda tricky because I felt blind as I arranged the squares; I couldn't really see where I was putting them. As I stare at the picture though, I think the polka dot patterns are too close together, but I AM NOT taking this thing apart again. I can totally live with it.
Yay for a snowy day!

I Got My Wish!

This is one of the wettest, slushiest snows I have ever seen. Unfortunately, downed trees/power lines are always a possibility. Boy, wouldn't a power outage make for a long night? Eek!
It just keeps coming down...the biggest, tongue-catching flakes!

I must say, Mother Nature has a twisted sense of humor toward teachers/students; this is the biggest snow of the season, and we are already scheduled to be off from school tomorrow for President's Day. I guarantee this will all be melted by Tuesday so we'll have to go back! :(  Omg, listen to me. I am horrible. I should be thankful for a job and my God-given health which allows me to actually work, period.

Oh, who am I kidding? LET IT SNOW! :) *giggles*

What I'm Excited About... 2!

Okay, I seem to blog about what I am excited about a lot. Usually it's because I am almost always excited about something! Most importantly, I get this urge to blog about this topic on Saturdays. So maybe this needs to become my every Saturday theme? Except now I need a cute, catchy little name! Any suggestions?

Here's what I am excited about:

1. Tomorrow's possiblity of SNOW!! I heart snow. Now, we don't have school Monday due to President's Day already so I am not really thinking we'll get a snow day or anything (there's always hope though!). I am just excited about snow in general. *giggles*

2. Girl Scout Cookies! I had no idea it was that time again until my mother handed me a box of Thin Mints! Ahhh! I love Samoas equally as much.

3. I am going to a wedding today. I love weddings, don't you? So sweet and special!

4. Madea (Tyler Perry)  has announced that she is going back on tour! I've seen a play of hers once before, and I am totally ready to go back! I have never laughed so had in my life!

We weren 't supposed to take this pic, but Aaron just had to try! As soon as he snapped the pic, Madea said, "What dat fool doin' out there takin' a pictsha?" It was kind of cool to get "jumped onto" by was also kinda scary, too!
Acting crazy!

5. I am excited about my husbands new job...because HE is so psyched about it. I'm telling you, he loves it and has talked about it nonstop. I think it's cute that he's a mailman!

Thanks to everyone who stops by my blog! I have had a lot of views lately! Yay! I also got two, count 'em TWO,  followers this week-  so excited! I have no comments yet though! Feel free, people. :)

High Five for Friday :)

Well, I totally missed posting last Friday (you'll find out why in a minute!). So, I decided to try to link up with Lauren this time! I just wanted to get in on the fun!

So, the reason I wasn't able to post last week? Um,  three nights of basketball championship games (including Friday) which were played at a school nearly 2 hours away! I have never had such a busy, disorganized week ever! Well, except for the week before my wedding, that is!  lol
The reason this made my top five? Basketball is officially OVER! I am excited that there are no more games, but I am pretty sad that cheerleading is over.
But, as a result, this week has been  *almost* relaxing and stress-free! I love it!

My school is off today (due to widespread illness throughout the school system) AND Monday for President's Day! I totally needed this little break, even though I hate that there are a lot of sick kids out there.

Valentine's Day!
Just being thankful for having my husband not only on Valentine's day, but also every single day of the year! :) I got roses and a nice dinner. I must add that I received some chocolate and the sweetest card EVER from one of my cheerios/students. It touched my heart and made me feel like I had been doing something right after all.

I am covering Propaganda with my 7th and 8th graders. It's one of my favorite things to teach because we get to watch hilarious commercials and make our own silly products/advertisements!

The Holy Bible App (from YouVersion).
I downloaded it on Wednesday and was instantly amazed at the cool reading plans and devotions that are on there. I started the Joyce Meyer "Promises for your Everyday Life" daily devotional immediately (love her!). So far, SO good.

Beware: this post is shallow.

Well, I am here to rant. Actually, I don't let my students complain and whine, so I'm going to try not to. :) We'll just call this little "spiel" a comparing and contrasting session since that's the skill we're working on this week. (I'll spare you the Venn Diagram).

If you know me, or even if you don't, you'll learn that I am a product junkie. There. I said it. Anything for my hair, face, and body...I love it. Anyways, I have been a faithful Merle Norman user for, like, ever. It's even what my mother and my grandmother uses. I assume the foundation is not the healthiest choice for the skin because it's thick, but it looks great and lasts all day. <3  I have tried every kind of foundation out there from minerals to liquid and nothing compares.

But something happened - something horrible and saddening. They changed the Total Finish makeup container. *GASP* Now, I know you're thinking a what? Well, the makeup formula seems to be the same; however, the new container doesn't contain half as much makeup as the old container! It's the same price, hello.

It's okay. I can totally deal with the makeup ordeal; I can always go buy more. But the sponge is different too. It has to be! I have never ever had a MN sponge fall apart in my hands before. I've always said I would pay as much for the sponge as I would the makeup, and I meant it. Now I'm just not sure anymore.

So what's my point? Merle Norman, don't fix it if isn't broken. Oh, you know I had to add in a cliche. :)

High Five for Friday!

I thought I might give this Friday thing a try! So, here's what I loved this week... :)

1. My Instyler.
I've had it forever, but I broke it out this week! If you don't have one, then get one! (Yes, it works great!)

2. The Snoring Dormouse Video!

Soooo cute!

3. Slim Fast's Snack Bar - "Peanut Butter Crunch Time"

Oh-to-the-M-G! These are awesome :) It's like a Butterfinger, but somehow I don't feel as guilty after eating one of these!

4. My husband's mail Jeep that he got this week, courtesy of my aunt and uncle! He looks so weird driving on the right-hand side of the car! It's so funny to see him clean it up and get it ready. I just know he'll be the best little mailman ever, and I'm happy for him. Oh, there'll be pics to come!

Even though Punxutawney Phil predicts 6 more weeks of winter, I must say I am totally getting adjusted to this beatiful weather. Sixty-degree temps are nothing to complain about, although I would love to use up our snow days sometime this winter!
What a cute little stinker! :)
(And, I really like the movie too!)

I am linking to From My Grey Desk for this High Five for Friday! :)
